The Portuguese National Science Foundation (FCT) funded between 2000 and 2002, 37 projects through the GENOPRO Research programme, representing an overall investment of 3.25 Mio. €. From these, the programme funded in the area of human-pathogenic microorganisms, 11 teams through 8 projects corresponding to 0.7 Mio €. These activities will be extenden in the next years.
