The Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN) has its own programme on Genomics and Proteomics with a budget of approximately 12 Mio. € per call (2001-2004), part of which is dedicated to genomics of human pathogen microorganisms. Additionally, the national Biotechnology programme also dedicates approximately 10-15% of its budget to different genomic aspects of pathogen microorganisms, mainly including bacteria and fungi.
