Research Topics:
Molecular Infection Biology Vaccine development Yersinia, Pseudomonas, Aspergillus The molecular analysis of the pathogenicity of Yersinia enterocolitica is focussed on Yersinia adhesin YadA, type 3 secretion system (T3SS), High Pathogenicity Island (HPI) and ferric yersiniabactin. Moreover, the potential of Y. enterocolitica as oral live vaccine carrier is studied. Molecular adaptation processes of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the lung habitat of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients are elucidated by means of proteomics and transcriptomics. Aspergillus fumigatus infection is initiated by uptake of conidiae which germinate and initiate invasive aspergillosis from the respiratory tract. We study host cell – Aspergillus interaction (including TLRs and Dectin) and the molecular processes involved in germination.
