Research Topics:
The Grup d'Enginyeria Molecular (GEM, Molecular Engineering Group) is a research group in the areas of Medicinal Chemistry, Biomedicine and Photobiology. Our areas of expertise are: 1) Computational chemistry, molecular modelling, QSAR 2) Organic synthesis (small, drug like, molecules, heterocyclic chemistry) 3) Combinatorial chemistry (design and selection of virtual libraries, synthesis of combinatorial libraries) 4) Photochemistry and interactions of light with molecules (including new photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy) 5) Spectroscopic characterization of molecules (FTIR, NMR, MS) Our research is currently focussed in: 1) Entry inhibitors of VIH 2) Tyrosine kinase inhibitors 3) Photochemical inactivation of virus and bacteria
