Here you will find information about Research groups in the PathoGenoMics fields from the ERA-NET partner countries (Austria, Finland, France, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain).
This information is supposed to support cooperation between researchers from different European countries
and thus enhance the development of a European Research Area for PathoGenoMics .

Research Topics:
Laboratory-based surveillance and investigation of all enteric and food-borne bacterial pathogens by various phenotypic and molecular genetic methods.

 

Organisms studied:
  • Campylobacter spp.
  • Clostridium perfringens
  • Listeria spec.
  • Salmonellae
  • Vibrio cholerae
  • VTEC
  • Yersinia

 

Special methods / technologies:
Traditional phenotypic methods, such as O:H serotyping, phage typing (Salmonella serotypes Typhimurium, Enteritidis and Paratyphi B, and VTEC O157), biotyping (Yersinia enterocolitica) Genotypic methods: PFGE for all pathogens mentioned, PCR for stx1, stx2, eaeA, hlyA, saa for VTEC, eae of EPEC, ctx of V. cholerae, and cpe of C. perfringens. MLVA for various bacteria will be set up in 2007. Also sequencing can be used when needed.
